God Forbid

God forbid I raise my hands in worship while I neglect my neighbor.

God forbid I cry from the pulpit to repent while I disregard my own sin.

God forbid I claim to be missional while my own family suffers.

God forbid I play holy while my internet history is blank.

God forbid I write these lines for my own glory.

God forbid I say He is sovereign while still worrying about the outcome.

God forbid I make Jesus a means to my own end.

God forbid my wife and kids think less of me than those outside my home.

God forbid I make the Gospel powerless through my own words and actions.

God forbid I hold on to this guilt when Jesus took it away.

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."

James 4:7-10
